When I arrived in the Netherlands all I wanted to do was book another ticket and leave again.. We all know that post-holiday feeling, don’t we? But then I thought – the holiday doesn’t have to be over yet!! I had just 1 more week before having to go back to university & work. So why not just go somewhere?! I didn’t want to go tooo far, so I decided to book a 3-day trip to one of my favourite cities: London!!
Here is a recap of what I did:
Day 1: KLM flight
On my way to the airport we flew over London & this was honestly one of the most gorgeous views ever! You could see the Big Ben, London Eye, The Tower Bridge, The Shard and so so so much more! – Véry good beginning of the trip!
Day 1: Oxford Street, Regent Street & Carnaby Street
First things first of course !! As soon as I had dropped my bags at the hostel, I took the underground to Oxford Street. Because it was a bank holiday it was extremely busy, bút I did manage to find some little gems! Of course I had to go to Topshop, Gap, Primark, Brandy & Melville, John Lewis, Boots & – honestly – all the other shops there. I ended up buying a jacket, bag, sweaters, tops ánd tinted my eyebrows at the brow bar @Topshop (to the last one I’m now addicted)!!
Day 1: Covent Garden
At night I went to Covent Garden to see the cousin of my foster mum and just to check out the area for a bit! I just love love love this place and I always come back to have dinner at least once. There were loads of street artists & little bands playing, which made the place even more fun!
Day 2: Camden Town
I’ve been to London so many times, but never went to Camden Town (?!?!?!?!?!). I don’t know why I never visited this place before… IT’S AMAZING !!! I loved the whole vibe, the markets, the food, all the vintage, JUST EVERYTHING!! When I go back to London, Camden Town is one of the first places I’ll visit for sure! – oh I want to go back, now. I ended up buying a vintage blouse only, but there were so many more things I wanted to take home with me (the hand-luggage limit was holding me back).
Day 2: Notting Hill
I also went to Notting Hill. I hadn’t been here before, but after seeing the movie Notting Hill, I just had to. There was a big festival the day before I went, so it was a little bit of a mess.. But I loved the streets, the cute houses & the little boutiques ! Because most things were closed I just wandered for a bit and then headed back to the hostel to drop the things I bought (again).
Day 2: Shoreditch
At night I went to Shoreditch to meet one of my friends for some drinks. This girl doing a fashion internship here, how cool is that ??!! Just as most places I visited during this trip, I hadn’t been in Shoreditch before. Such a shame, because I loved it !! Shoreditch is definitely the place to be if you want a good night out. We went to this little jazzy bar, where there were bands playing live – loved it.
Day 3: The National Gallery & The National Portrait Gallery
HELLO ANNA! My last day in London was all about museums, museums and museums. On this day I went to The National Gallery & The National Portrait Gallery. I honestly loved both of them! The galleries were located reallyyy close to each other, so I would highly recommend visiting both. Btw. I didn’t know that the gallery admission for most museums is 100% free! If I knew this before, I would have definitely visited more museums!
Day 3: time to go back home
After having visited the museums it was time for me to head back to the hostel. The hostel I stayed at, Clink78, was located near King’s Cross Station, which made it easy to get éverywhere ánd easy to drop off stuff during the day. After I got my luggage from the hostel, I headed straight to the airport and then it was time to get back to reality whihi.
It was an amazing summer! So, I really can’t complain.
