As I’m currently writing this I’m waiting at Charles de Gaulle Airport in PARIS: THIS WASN’T THE PLAN! Ok, here we go: yesterday I was going to go to Saint-Martin from Amsterdam, but due to some traffic, long lines and a overbooked flight, I wasn’t able to go :(. BUT, there are multiple ways to Saint-Martin and one of them is through Paris! So, I decided to spend the day in Paris and take the next flight to Saint-Martin, one day later. I’m still not sure whether I’ll be able to go or not (I came REALLY EARLY this time!). So while I’m waiting for an answer on that, I thought I’d share my 20H Paris Adventures.
The city: what I did
Since I’ve been in Paris a couple of times I didn’t feel like going to ALL the landmarks as fast as possible. So I decided to just walk around a little and of course, check out Sephora. First thing I did was take the train to the stration Gare du Nord. From there I walked to the Sacré-Coeur. I absolutely LOVE the view here and always come back whenever I’m in Paris. The Basilica itself is gorgeous as well. So if you’re going to Paris, DEFINITELY go here!
After seeing the Sacré-Coeur & the view I took the underground to see the Arc de Triomphe. The last time I was in Paris I didn’t have the chance to go here and do some shopping at the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, so I had to go this time! There I went to Sephora and bought some little bits and bobs. Unfortunately I couldn’t buy much… My suitcases are all ready almost FULL and I still have to go to Saint-Martin, New York & Curacao… with the same suitcase. Oh well. Was able to get some things LITTLE things though! :)
Then I went to see the Eiffel Tower, which of course is a MUST SEE whenever you’re in Paris. There I spotted some celebrities & really good looking people going to Couture & walked around for a bit. I was pretty tired of the flight and getting up really early.. So after that I decided to go back home, which took me pretty long to figure out how.. At around 10 PM I was knock out.
The Hotel: Premiere Classe Roissy
My stepmom actually booked this hotel for me since I was juggling 3 bags at the airport. The hotel itself was OK. I had a really small room with a REALLY small bathroom. But, for one night & one person only it was perfect! The main reason we chose this hotel was the good shuttle service to the airport… because, catching my flight was more important than seeing Paris… BUT, if you’re coming to Paris to explore the city, I would recommend choosing a hotel more nearby the city centre (unless you’re planning to drive everywhere). With the shuttle, train and underground it took me around 1.5 hour (times 2) to get everywhere with a total cost of €32,50 (for one day only). So even though the hotel is quite cheap, if you’re really planning to explore Paris, a hotel/hostel more nearby with easy access to the underground would be better. Besides that, there isn’t really much around the hotel except fore more hotels… HOWEVER, for short lay-overs in between flights, this hotel is pretty good for the price you’re paying (I paid €42 euro for the room & shuttle service).
I’m now still waiting to see if I can go to Saint-Martin.. and I’m pretty nervous. I really want to see my granddad there and I don’t fancy waiting another day to go there (-1 another day of seeing my granddad). I’ll keep you posted! For now, I’ll just keep working on my blog, scroll instagram and check out some more duty free shops..
I hope you all are having a lovely day!
